Northstar Construction Update - March 24

Beginning later this spring, Northstar Construction Updates will begin including information on commuter rail station construction in Big Lake, Elk River, Anoka and Coon Rapids. This week, Northstar is continuing construction of the Light Rail Trainsit (LRT) connection in downtown Minneapolis and the Vehicle Maintenance Facility in Big Lake. Details on upcoming construction activities are included below.

Downtown Minneapolis - Light Rail Transit (LRT Connection)

• Construction crews will continue decking work on the 5th Street North bridge over I-394.
• Electric work beneath the 5th Street North bridge over the BNSF tracks continues.

City of Big Lake - Vehicle Maintenance Facility (VMF)

• There are no anticipated traffic impacts related to VMF construction in the coming week.
• Roofing work at the VMF has been completed.
• Rail has been delivered to the VMF construction site. See photo below.
